The Ice Cream

I watched a little girl
eating an ice cream cone
she was careless
dropping the ice cream
her eyes a cloudburst
her daddy watched
his eyes
complete indifference
my heart breaks for her &
I wonder
how much more disappointment
life holds for her
who else she will love
will be indifferent to her pain &
who will buy her another ice cream?
